The game follows protagonist James Sunderland traveling to Silent Hill after receiving a letter from his deceased wife stating that she waits there for him. In this way, it is much closer to the original developer's intended experience. Of the two games included in the HD Collection, Silent Hill 2 stands out as it has the option to select the original vocal performances. Despite not being the definitive way to experience these classic games, the HD Collection remains the best avenue for players looking to see what Silent Hill is all about in a hassle-free manner. It received mixed reviews, mostly citing issues with the new voice acting and graphical updates that made the games less scary. The HD Collection is only available on the Xbox marketplace via backwards compatibility, and is not without flaws, however. They depict both the psychological horror and supernatural aspects of Silent Hill, such as the town’s Dark God. These are some of the series' most beloved and praised entries. Silent Hill 1, Silent Hill Origins and Silent Hill Shattered Memories can be bought on the old Playstation Store. The Silent Hill HD Collection is a remastered version of Silent Hill 2 and its secondary scenario, Born from a Wish, as well as Silent Hill 3. Yes, but honestly SH HD collection is indecent and nowdays you can only play it on xbox series s/x by retrocompatibility. Not saying it's better or worse, just reminding they're there.) (I'd also like to add that some games like the HD collection are available digitally, in this case on the Xbox store. Duckstation is also on Android and ePSX (another PS1 emulator) can be used on IOS. Unfortunately Konami doesn't like money.Ībsolutely. If Konami doesn't want to sell them, it's their loss. I'd happily buy them all if they were available to buy - Heck, I bought SH4 on GOG the very moment it came out. Aside from the PS3 emulator, they run on Android as well. I can assure you that you can buy a PC capable of running them all for that price.Įdit: All the emulators in this list can be used on a Mac or a Steam Deck. If you are a collector I get it, but if you are not, why do you spend 100 € to play a game that you could play for free or for a few bucks with better graphics on a PC?Įdit: You don't have a PC? Buying all the SH games on Ebay will cost you something like 400-500€. You can enhance graphics here as well if your PC is good.
You will need a pretty decent PC for this one, since PS3 emulation is no joke. Silent Hill: Downpour can be played on PC with RPCS3 (ps3 emulator) link. Silent Hill Shattered Memories can be played with Dolphin (Wii\Gamecube emulator) link or with the PS2 emulator or the PSP emulator. It runs like shit and it crashes a lot, you need to patch it, but it will still crash sometimes. Silent Hill Homecoming can be bought on Steam.
I personally consider the PSP port better because the PS2 one has a brightness problem. Silent Hill Origins can be played with PS2 Emulator or PSP emulator link. If you prefer the PS2 version you can play it with PCSX2 exactly like SH3. Silent Hill 4 can be bought on gog.com for really cheap. Just download the Rom on CDRomance and play the game. You can enhance graphics vastly by upscaling internal resolution and applying filters. Silent Hill 1 (uncensored) can easily be played with DuckStation link, a free PS1 emulator.
